"All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights."
Article 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
Education is a human right
In Indonesia, school attendance has been compulsory since 1974, and since 1977 no school fees may be charged in the elementary school sector. On the one hand, however, there are not enough state schools, and on the other hand, learning materials and school uniforms have to be paid for. Many of the poorer families can hardly or not at all afford these costs.
In the southeast of the island of Bali, in the "Jalan Bisma No. 8 Kampial in Nusa Dua, lies the "Bintang Timur School" founded in 2013 by Ibu Susan. A school for all children - regardless of their background or religion - to help them realize their right to education. Principal Ibu Susan gives all children the opportunity to attend preschool or elementary school here.
Since being founded the school has constantly been expanding in order to try and cope with the ever growing amount of new students. For this, Ibu Susan is dependent on financial help. Our association has set itself the task of supporting this school - in the form of donations and sponsorships.
